Antoine Griezmann is making his return to Atletico Madrid after a brief stint with Barcelona. Griezmann will initially be going to Atleti on loan until June 22, and then there is a buy option for €40 million.

Fabrizio Romano has more details on the deal between the two clubs:

There had been rumors that João Felix would be part of this deal and that he would be heading to Barcelona, but Romano reports that won't happen. Felix will be staying with Atletico Madrid, with Barca now trying to work out a deal with Sevilla for Luuk de Jong.

Antoine Griezmann first played for Atletico Madrid starting in 2014 after starting his senior club career with Real Sociedad. He enjoyed a good amount of success with the club, even reaching a Champions League final before losing to Real Madrid. The French star did win a UEFA Europa League title with Atleti in 2017-18.

Griezmann wound up leaving Atletico Madrid for Barcelona in 2019 to team up with Lionel Messi. The 30-year-old won his first trophy with Barca in 2021 when the club won the Copa del Rey Final.

However, now Griezmann is heading back to Atletico Madrid. This comes after Barcelona lost Messi to Paris Saint-Germain. Barca's financial issues have been a major headache for the club.
