The No. 2 Auburn Tigers were shocked in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday night, losing to No. 10 Miami. It was a very quiet night for their star player and the potential top pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, Jabari Smith, who had just 10 points.

Following the disappointing exit from March Madness, the Auburn star revealed that he's not totally sure if he'll declare for the draft or return to college for another year.

Via ESPN:

“I feel like if I had to make a decision a thousand more times, I wouldn't choose nowhere else but Auburn,” Smith said. “It was fun.”

According to ESPN's latest mock draft, Smith is projected to go second overall behind Gonzaga star Chet Holmgren after averaging 16.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, and two assists on a 42% clip from downtown in 2021-22, emerging as one of the most fluent scorers in the nation.

The Auburn forward gave full credit to Miami for containing him:

“I had some looks that just didn't fall, but credit to them, just making them tough,” Smith said. “Keeping bodies on me, being physical with me, sending two people. They defended well as a team.”

After all, Smith is just a freshman. Another year at Auburn certainly wouldn't hurt as he'd enter the NBA as a more complete player in 2023. Failing to step up in a big game like this would definitely put doubts in his mind though, which isn't surprising for an 18-year-old. Whether he takes his talents to the league this summer or not, Jabari Smith still has a bright future. It just wasn't his night.
