The Colorado Avalanche were under a minute away from eliminating the St. Louis Blues and advancing to the Western Conference Finals on Wednesday night. However, the team managed to blow the late lead and lose Game 5 in overtime. They now head on the road Friday night for Game 6 with another chance to close out the series.

Looking for a jolt to jump start the team, it appears as though the Avalanche are making a bold move. Colorado forward Andre Burakovsky is going to re-join the team and get back onto the ice. Burakovsky was a healthy scratch the last two games of the series, after struggling throughout the post season.

The talented left winger scored his only three points of the playoffs in Game 4 against the Nashville Predators. Since that point, he saw his ice time diminish each game until eventually being taken out of the lineup.

Burakovsky was expected to become a longtime contributor with the Washington Capitals but struggled with consistency. He signed a two-year contract with the Avalanche prior to last season. This year, he posted a career-high 22 goals and 61 points in 80 games, making his poor play this postseason that much more confounding.

Burakovsky is slated to be an unrestricted free agent after this season. So, unless he is able to make an impact going forward, he might find himself looking for a new employer next season.

The Avalanche are hopeful to put the Blues away Friday night and earn a spot in the conference finals. The Edmonton Oilers are already waiting, having eliminated the Calgary Flames in five games Thursday night.
