After previously making fun of his teammates' missing teeth, Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas had to be prepared to take the flack he was bound to received after getting one of his front teeth knocked out by an accidental elbow during the first quarter of Game 1 against the Washington Wizards.

“It just bothers me to talk. My tongue goes right through my tooth,” a lispy Thomas told reporters according to ESPN's Chris Forsberg. “I've never had dental problems so this is new. I've always had teammates that I've always clowned them about the tooth being out and now I'm one of them. So hopefully we can replace it as soon as possible.”

Teammate Kelly Olynyk was one of the first to have some fun with his misfortune upon speaking to reporters.

“I couldn't even take him serious when he was talking to me,” Olynyk told ESPN's Jeff Goodman.

Backcourt mate Avery Bradley followed soon, implying he should keep his toothless mug throughout the postseason as scar of war.

“He looks a little tougher, I like it,” Bradley said. “I was making jokes during the game on the bench and I got him laughing, it was funny. There's a guy from Seattle named Rodney Stuckey and he plays with a missing tooth and I told Isaiah he should go with that look for the rest of the playoffs. He laughed and said, ‘No, I'm getting it fixed tonight.' He played well and definitely got our team going tonight.”

A toothless Thomas got off to a fast start in the first quarter, tallying 12 points on 3-of-3 from beyond the arc and 3-of-3 from the stripe. The Washington native bounced back from a 12-point outing in Game 6 to pour in 33 to lead the way in Game 1, putting his team up 1-0 in the series with a 123-111 win on Sunday.
