Barcelona's financial struggles have made it difficult to navigate the summer transfer window. Without the necessary funds to compete for major signings, Barca knows they will have to part ways with some key players if they want to bring in new faces. Among the players set to be shown the exit door is veteran defender Dani Alves, who revealed via an emotional Instagram post, that his time at Barcelona has come to an end.

Alves is one of the most decorated fullbacks in all of world football. He returned to Barcelona last season after having been away from the club for the previous six seasons. In all, Alves played nine seasons for Barca, winning La Liga six times and hoisting the Champions League trophy three times.

He featured in 14 games for Barcelona last year, starting 13. The 39-year-old scored 1 goal and added 3 assists for the club, serving mainly as cover for the first team.

Prior to his return to Barca, Dani Alves enjoyed one year at Juventus, two years at PSG, and three years back in his native Brazil with top-flight club Sao Paolo.

Throughout his Barcelona career, Alves has featured in 366 matches in all competitions with 23 goals and 85 assists. No longer as physically capable as he was in his earlier years, his time at Barcelona is officially over, with the club deciding against extending his contract, which expired in June.

It's unclear what's next for the 39-year-old, but he'll forever be remembered as a legend at Barca.
