Barcelona president Joan Laporta is encouraging fans to continue supporting the club despite its tumultuous start this season.

After Barcelona’s devastating defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League opener, Joan Laporta addressed the club’s supporters and courteously asked for their patience.

In the wake of Monday’s 1-1 draw against Granada, Laporta once again called for more patience from the fans and vowed to “sort” things out sooner rather than later.

“Hello, Barcelona fans! I ask you to keep supporting our team,” he said on his official Twitter account. “The team needs you, and [they are] thankful to you. You know we are experiencing a difficult time and these are the moments when you need to stand by us.

“In Cadiz [game], you can be sure that the team will try to win,” he assured. “I don’t know what will happen, but no matter what, in the next match against Levante this week, keep supporting our team. The team needs it. And try to remain calm, we know what needs to be done and we will sort it.”

Pressure mounted on Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman after the Granada draw with reports now claiming Laporta has already began working on axing the Dutchman.

To his defense, Koeman stressed that they did their best to win but today’s Barcelona is just not that capable of winning anymore.

“Look at our squad list,” Koeman said after the game. “We did what we could. We don’t have the players from the tiki-taka days. This isn’t the Barcelona of eight years ago. That’s the way it is.”
