Former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola gives his honest reaction to Xavi being named a frontrunner for Barcelona's new boss.

Guardiola is one of the most excellent managers of all time, winning multiple trophies managing players such as Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Xavi.

Xavi, a Barcelona great, has had a highly successful managerial stint with a club from Qatar, Al-Sadd— staying unbeaten for 34 straight league games.

As Xavi's former master, Guardiola shares his analysis of Xavi's possible future stint as Barcelona's manager after the club sacked then-boss Ronald Koeman following a 1-0 defeat to Rayo Vallecano.

“First of all, I don’t know what will happen. They have an interim manager and I wish him luck, he’s a close friend. Xavi, if it happens, I don’t have any doubts he’s ready to do the job. He knows the environment which is so important. He knows the game, he has passion. He has more experience now that I had when I took over,” the former Barcelona manager stressed.

“Koeman knows and Sergi knows and Xavi and I know, the success depends on the recruitment and the players. People forget we are responsible but our influence is more minimal than people believe. The success I had was because of the quality of the players. Xavi, of course, is really good, if Xavi is the next manager [I wish] him all the best and hopefully step by step the team can come back.”

As of now, Lionel Messi's departure from Barcelona has had a massive effect; the club seems to be struggling across all competitions, failing to find goal-scoring opportunities consistently. Barca is currently ninth in La Liga's standings and is looking for a significant turnaround this season.
