Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman could be out of a job very soon. Per ESPN, the La Liga giants are exploring options to replace the Dutchman, with Belgium head coach Roberto Martinez emerging as a possible candidate.

Barca president Joan Laporta reportedly had a long meeting following the club's 1-1 draw with Granada on Monday regarding Koeman's future. However, Barcelona is not totally sold on sacking him quite yet because there's a lack of viable replacements who can come in and take over on a full-time basis. Martinez has enjoyed the utmost success with the Red Devils. Former player Xavi could also be an option, but he's currently in charge at Qatar side Al-Sadd. Jordi Cruyff is another name they're considering.

While Barcelona does remain unbeaten in league play, the Catalans have grabbed just eight points of a possible 12, going 2-2-0. They were also dismantled on Champions League matchday 1 by Bayern Munich, losing 3-0 at Camp Nou.

According to the report, Barca had considered firing Ronald Koeman in the summer and had their eyes set on Hansi Flick, but he ultimately left Bayern for the Germany job. Barcelona's iffy financial situation also played a factor in keeping Koeman around. However, there would be no problem paying him off now after selling Lionel Messi and several players accepting pay cuts.

With the results simply not good enough, it does seem inevitable that a change will be made in the dugout. Koeman was hired in August of 2020 and guided Barca to a third-place finish last term.
