Following Pedri's club-record extension, Ronald Koeman has revealed that Barcelona is close to extending Ansu Fati's contract at Camp Nou.

Sources have told ESPN that Ansu Fati had multiple offers coming in from various top clubs around Europe, but the La Masia graduate has made it clear through super-agent Jorge Mendes, that he intends to stay at Barca.

After a stellar performance from Fati, scoring a goal and winning a penalty to give Barcelona a 3-1 victory over Valencia, Koeman revealed the club's intention with the coveted 18-year old prospect.

Via Sam Marsden and Moises Llorens of ESPN:

“I know they are close to agreeing a new contract with Ansu,” Barca coach Koeman said in a news conference on Tuesday. “It's big news for Barca because we're talking about someone that can mark the club's long-term future.”

With Lionel Messi's departure from the club in the previous transfer window, Ansu Fati inherited the famous number 10. This turned heads across the football world, but the Spanish forward looks like he won't be shying away from the pressure that comes with following Messi's footsteps.

Despite suffering a major knee injury last season that sidelined Fati for 10 months, he has delivered every time he has set foot on the pitch — even scoring 10 minutes into his season debut for Barcelona against Levante.

If all things go well, Fati becomes the second youngster that Barcelona secured over the past week with Pedri extending with the Blaugrana until 2026, with a release clause of over $1 billion.
