After sacking Ronald Koeman, Barcelona has officially announced Xavi as their new long-term manager. The club legend sent an emotional message amid his return to Camp Nou.

Xavi is returning as a legend who brought 25 major trophies during his 17-year stint at Barcelona, including eight La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues— truly impeccable for any kind of football player.

“It wasn’t goodbye. It was see you soon.”

“The Camp Nou has always been my home. You’re my fans, my people, the club that I love the most. And now, I’m coming home. See you soon, Culers. Forca Barca!”

However, it must be a shame not to manage his old teammate, Lionel Messi. The Argentinian's departure speaks volumes about how he impacts the club on and off the pitch as Barcelona is currently experiencing a massive struggle.

As Koeman's time with Barcelona comes to an end, they expect to keep Xavi in the near future.

“We have reached an agreement with Xavi Hernandez for him to become [a] first-team coach for the rest of the current season and two more seasons.”

Xavi was known as a brilliant mind on the pitch, and apart from that, he has a remarkable managerial record with Al Sadd— providing some peace of mind for die-hard Barcelona fans.

However, former club legends like Frank Lampard did not live to the hype while managing their beloved teams. The Barcelona faithful surely hopes that Xavi is not one of them, but, it will be a challenge resurrecting a team placing ninth in La Liga.
