Jesse Lingard is currently linked to FC Barcelona and AC Milan on a potential move as he plays out the final year of his Manchester United contract.

Sources have told ESPN that Lingard will be eligible to negotiate with clubs outside of England on January 1, ahead of the summer transfer window.

Lingard has previously turned down an offer to extend his contract at Old Trafford with concerns that the Englishman will lack opportunities to play for both club and country. Manchester United has yet to make another offer for the midfielder.

Last year, the 28-year old turned eyes once more as he produced an incredible string of performances while on loan at West Ham United. He bagged 9 goals and contributed  4 assists in 16 games — he was even named Premier League player of the month for April.

Despite only appearing for Manchester United a total of 3 times in the Premier League, Lingard has shown his worth by scoring 2 goals in the league, including a late winner at West Ham to give them a 2-1 win on that weekend.

He also made his presence known during a Champions League match, coming off the bench to set up Cristiano Ronaldo to snatch a vital 2-1 win over Villareal CF.

Should he opt to leave the club in the summer, United will look to cash in on Jesse Lingard during the winter transfer window. Barcelona and Milan look to capitalize on an opportunity to sign an experienced English midfielder amid a time where finances have not looked the best due to mismanagement and pandemic-related concerns.
