Barcelona has an eye on making a transfer move for Manchester City forward Ferran Torres, but the Catalan side may have to put such plans on hold for the moment.

As noted by the Spanish-based outlet Marca, Manchester City is currently not interested in sending Torres to Barca via a loan deal over the upcoming winter transfer window.

This comes after Barca director of football Mateu Alemany recently traveled to Manchester, England to facilitate talks on a possible loan move for Torres, but in the end, such efforts were snubbed by Manchester City club officials.

The reigning Premier League champions have not completely ruled out the possibility of offloading the Spanish international in 2022, but any possible deal involving him would have to wait until the next summer transfer window.

At the least, Manchester City has an intrigue on demanding €70 million-plus for Torres, who is currently in his second season with the Premier League side and has notched 18 goals in all competitions.

In the big picture, Manchester City club officials hold all the cards as to where this transfer dilemma will head to next. Torres is much open to signing with Barca and the Catalan side views him as a talent who can help to bolster the team's attacking depth.

Overall, Barcelona has also been linked with RB Leipzig forward Dani Olmo for a possible transfer move next year, but for now, the team will continue to rely on Memphis Depay to lead the team’s forward depth upfront. The Dutch international has so far scored eight goals in all competitions in his first campaign with the La Liga powerhouse.
