Without a doubt, the guy to get when hunting baseball cards is no other than Shohei Ohtani. When checking who stands out, both on the field and in the market, the Japanese star is definitely a sure winner for collectors. That includes his rookie offerings, short-printed parallels, and of course, the cards he actually signed. But while the latter is really coveted by basketball fans, there's a variant of these autographed baseball cards that are gaining more hype and momentum among those in the hobby.

In a video shared by Find Your Trove on Instagram, some of Ohtani's rookie autographs from Topps don't look the same because the signature on the card is written in Kanji. Among the rare Shohei Ohtani cards that have surfaced in the market is a 2018 Bowman Chrome Rookie Autographs Blue Refractor numbered to 150 copies. The video goes on to explain that this particular card was the only one shown pulled from the pack publicly.

There are other Shohei Ohtani Kanji autos that came out of Topps 2018 Finest and Upper Deck's Exquisite Collection Rookie Tribute Auto from the same year. The narrator would go on to project several Ohtani autos to hit the market this Spring, but doesn't expect the Kanji variants to be sold.

Heading over to eBay's sold listings and the 2018 Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Ohtani Kanji auto can be seen. The said card, which is encased inside a BGS 9.5 slab, sold early this year for $34,567. As stated in Find Your Trove's video, there isn't any sighting yet of a Topps Ohtani Kani auto that has the baseball star wearing his Los Angeles Angels uniform. In the event it comes out, expect a high price to come along with it.
