October 22, 2021, would’ve been the release date for Battlefield 2042, until it got delayed to November 19, 2021. That doesn't mean we don't get to play the game anytime soon, as Battlefield 2042‘s Open Beta Test will launch in early October.

How to join the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta Test?

Players will be able to download Battlefield 2042’s open beta test starting October 5, but will not be able to play immediately. The open beta test will unlock on October 6 to those who pre-ordered the game. 48 hours later, on October 8, the open beta will open up for everyone else. This will continue for another 48 hours, before Battlefield 2042‘s open beta officially closes on October 10.

There are no special requirements to join the open beta. Pre-ordering the game is also not required. However, pre-ordering Battlefield 2042 will gain you access to the game a full 48 hours ahead of anyone else. Regardless of your penchant for pre-orders, you'd still be able to download the game as early as October 5. It just won't unlock until the designated dates above. After October 10, the game will be locked again. Who knows, maybe DICE will give us more opportunities in the following weeks. Just be sure to give proper feedback to the devs after playing through the open beta.

Battlefield 2042 launches on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on November 19, 2021.
