Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski believes that there are six top contenders in the UEFA Champions League competition this season.

Over the recent summer transfer window, multiple clubs bolstered their squads in an effort to give their side a fighting chance to be a serious contender in this season's Champions League. From Paris Saint-Germain signing Lionel Messi on a free transfer deal to Chelsea completing a blockbuster move for Romelu Lukaku, such clubs went all out to improve their teams top to bottom.

With 16 clubs remaining in this season's Champions League, Lewandowski sees that only six of them are serious contenders to win Europe’s most prestigious club competition, which the Polish striker revealed to the German-based outlet Sport Bild.

“For me, the favorites are Liverpool, Manchester City, PSG, Real Madrid, Chelsea and us,” Lewandowski said. “The first round of 16 is at the end of February – a lot can change between now and then. At the moment, I see these six teams in front.”

As the reigning Bundesliga Golden Boot winner touched on, plenty can change in the world of football from now until the start of the Champions League round of 16, but it sure would not be a surprise to see a select four of these clubs reach the semifinals of the competition.

For Lewandowski's Bayern Munich side, it will clash with Austrian side RB Salzburg in the Champions League round of 16 later this season.
