During this past weekend, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers decided to part ways with kicker Roberto Aguayo after a disappointing performance in the preseason opener.

However, it didn't take him long to find his next NFL opportunity after being claimed by the Chicago Bears off waivers, according to Field Yates of ESPN.

The Bears could present Aguayo with a chance to compete for the starting job with Connor Barth, who had been released by the Buccaneers when the team had drafted the former Florida State product in the second round of 2016 NFL Draft.

He was the highest-drafted kicker since Mike Nugent was selected back in the 2005 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Aguayo struggled throughout his rookie campaign nailing just 71 percent of his field goal attempts (22 of 31) while failing to make any kicks from more than 50 yards.

The telling signs were there early on for Aguayo as he missed three field goal attempts in a joint practice with the Cleveland Browns during training camp last year while also missing an extra point and two field goals in the preseason. This could be Aguayo last chance to latch onto a starting job in the NFL if he struggles once again.
