With Cam Newton on the trade market via the Carolina Panthers, the Chicago Bears apparently want to avoid any risks from other teams. According to Jonathan Jones, despite the possibility of Newton being released, the Windy City franchise is in talks with Carolina to acquire the gunslinger by way of trade to avoid competition on the free market.
Don't believe me? Well, read this tweet, pal!
The Panthers have been in recent contact with the Bears regarding Cam Newton, per source. The expectation is Newton will be released in the coming days, but CHI may not want to compete in the market for him

Facts! Bears facts. Not beers facts, sadly.
Another fact? Cam Newton probably still has a lot left in the figurative tank. Maybe some in his literal tank too, but no one is reporting on the current situation of his vehicle. Given the current pandemic happening, one would only assume he's done a solid job of stockpiling fuel for his car, though. That's 100 percent conjecture on my end.
With the free agency carousel altering many franchises the last couple of days, coupled with the Bears apparently not sold on their current quarterback, Cam Newton might feel like a bit of a stopgap at the position, but it could also be an immediate fix — helping create a more than competent offense to go alongside their stellar defense.
Time will tell, however. Time is undefeated much like the Auburn Tigers were when Cam was manning the helm for the program in his college days.
The Bears are not, at least as of late, undefeated in much of anything.
