The Chicago Bears already boasted one of the best defensive units in the NFL and they got even better this offseason by signing Robert Quinn. The newly signed edge rusher believes he can be the “icing on the cake” for Chicago's defense next season.

Per Bryan Perez in NBC Sports Chicago:

“They already have the talent there,” Quinn said, via ProFootballTalk. “I’m just trying to bring the icing on the cake. I believe in my talents. I know what I bring to the table and again I know what they had there already. I think with that formula, we can do something special this year.”

Even though the Bears failed to make the playoffs in 2019, their defense was still a formidable group. While the offense was noticeably worse than they were in 2018, Chicago's defense was the No. 8 ranked defense in 2019 (in terms of yards allowed). On the other hand, they concluded last season as the fourth-best scoring defense.

Of course, the Bears are led by Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks, and Eddie Goldman on the defensive line. The rest of their defense also features talented players like Roquan Smith, Eddie Jackson, and Kyle Fuller. But heading into next season, Chicago now has someone that can wreak havoc on the opposite side of Mack.

In his lone season with the Dallas Cowboys in 2019, Quinn proved he still has something left in the tank, tallying 11.5 sacks—the most he's recorded since the 2014 season. While Quinn will undoubtedly be a welcomed addition for the defense, the success of the Bears relies solely on what happens at the quarterback position.
