Allen Robinson has been the most dependable wide receiver and playmaker on the Chicago Bears' roster in the last two years.

Given he is on an expiring contract in 2020, it would seem the Bears would engage their star wideout in extension talks.

But Robinson said this has not been the case. During an appearance on Chicago's ESPN 1000, Robinson stated not overtures have been made by the team regarding an extension (via Cam Ellis of NBC Sports Chicago):

“They haven't. We haven't heard nothing. I think just as far as me and my agent, from a the conversations that we've had, we're not necessarily anticipating hearing anything at this point. For us, we're going into camp preparing ourselves to have a good year. If that comes up and they reach out to my agent, I'm sure they'll have pretty good discussions and things like that, but again, that hasn't happened yet. Maybe it will happen. I can't predict the future, so I don't know if that will happen at all. For myself, with this being my second time going into a contract year, I know how to mentally prepare myself and I know how to block all that out.”

Robinson appeared in all 16 games last season for the Bears, finishing the year with 98 receptions—including seven for touchdowns—and 1,147 yards.

The 26-year-old is a big target, and a standout talent in an otherwise shaky receiving corps. He bailed quarterback Mitchell Trubisky out of numerous throws last season and might even be held in higher regard if not for spending his career with signal-callers like Trubisky and Blake Bortles.

Perhaps the Bears are biding their time. Robinson seems to think everything will take care of itself. Still, it is a bit perplexing there have been zero discussions thus far.
