On Tuesday evening, it was reported by NFL.com's Tom Pelissero that the NFL was looking into different options if the league were to lose a substantial amount of revenue due to the ongoing “coronavirus.” With one of those options being withholding a portion of players' salaries in escrow, it is safe to say that at least one player — current Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson — is not in favor of such a possibility.

Not only could the players' have their salaries withheld in escrow, but the percentage of which could make its way into such an account could be up to 35 percent.

This has been quite the week for NFL salary news — not just in relationship to Robinson and the Bears — and it is only Tuesday. Prior to Tuesday evening's report from the aforementioned Pelissero, it was formally announced that the Kansas City Chiefs agreed to sign Super Bowl-winning quarterback Patrick Mahomes to an unheard of 10-year contract extension. Not only that, but the newly inked pact could net Mahomes, already a Super Bowl Champion and league MVP just a few years into his NFL tenure, more than $500 million. As a result of this mega-deal, Mahomes is now the owner of the largest contract in North American professional sports history.

Although Robinson isn't in line for an extension of that nature, the Bears pass catcher makes a pretty solid living as it stands today. Currently gearing up for his third go-round in the “Windy City” as a member of the Bears, Robinson originally signed a three-year, $42 million free agent contract with Chicago after initially breaking into the league with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
