Although the Chicago Bears managed to escape with a win in the 2020 NFL season opener, the elation was quickly replaced by concern regarding rumors of wide receiver Allen Robinson's desire to be traded amid ongoing contract negotiations.

Reports indicated that Robinson requested a traded since both sides were unable to agree to an extension. His camp has since dispelled this notion and it appears he was able to have a productive talk with head coach Matt Nagy, via NFL Update:

Robinson also offered up an encouraging statement regarding his future in Chicago, per the team's official Twitter:

“My heart and spirit has never wavered about the city of Chicago and playing for this organization.”

While the two sides were able to downplay all the trade talks after just one game, the onus will still fall on the Bears to find a way to get a lucrative extension done in the near future. Robinson is slated to make $13 million this season and despite making efforts to downplay contract talks, his frustration has been well-documented after he removed his mentions from the Bears on social media.

Robinson has certainly provided Chicago with plenty of bang for their buck since his arrival prior to the 2018 season. He managed to finish the 2019 campaign with career high in receptions (98) for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns as part of a lackluster offense.

It is safe to say that watching other notable wideouts such as Arizona Cardinals' DeAndre Hopkins, the Los Angeles Chargers' Keenan Allen and the Los Angeles Rams' Cooper Kupp receive their lucrative extensions has only led to further frustration for Robinson.
