Chicago Bears quarterback Andy Dalton didn’t exactly help his case of remaining the first stringer in the team’s 34-14 Week 1 loss to the LA Rams on Sunday. He really struggled to get going and many fans were pleading for Matt Nagy to make Justin Fields the starter.

Nonetheless, Dalton is still trying to see the positives out of their loss. Via Sports Illustrated:

“It’s a long season,” the Bears QB said. “I think everybody understands that. And I think if you look at the way the division shook out today we’re still in the same position.”

He does have a point, to be fair. The Vikings, Lions, and Packers all lost in Week 1 as well. Dalton completed 27 of 38 passing attempts but failed to throw for a single TD. He was also intercepted once and sacked three times. As for Fields, he went 2 for 2 on his throws for the Bears in limited action but did manage to score his first NFL touchdown as he rushed into the end-zone on a three-yard run.

Lots of Bears fans are calling for Dalton’s head already and if he doesn’t start producing, Nagy will have no choice but to hand Fields the keys as their starting QB. It will be interesting to see what happens next week against the Cincinnati Bengals.
