When the Chicago Bears signed running back Mike Davis back in March, many felt he would be the team's featured running back this season.

That has not been the case.

Through nine weeks, Davis has been a virtual non-factor, carrying the ball just 11 times for 25 yards. He has only touched the ball three times since Week 4, with all of those touches coming in Week 8.

The thing is, Davis is currently preventing the Bears from landing a fourth-round compensatory draft pick, a pick that they were set to receive when they lost safety Adrian Amos to the Green Bay Packers in free agency.

Signing Davis cancelled out that benefit, but the good news for Chicago is that it can still end up getting that pick if it cuts Davis before Week 10, per Nick Korte of Over the Cap.

Given the fact that Davis, who signed a two-year, $6 million deal with the club, has been a big-time bust with the Bears and that Chicago will be without a first-round pick and a third-rounder next spring, it would probably behoove the team to just cut its losses with Davis and move on.

The 2019 campaign has been a disappointing season as a whole for the Bears, as they have gone just 3-5 thus far.

Chicago won 12 games and captured the NFC North division title a year ago, and going into this year, the Bears were considered Super Bowl contenders as a result.

However, Chicago has resembled nothing of the sort thus far, most recently putting forth its latest anemic offensive performance in a 22-14 loss tot the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
