Austin Hooper is one of the best tight ends available in free agency after the Atlanta Falcons have decided to let him hit the open market. With a talented young tight end available on the market, teams like the Chicago Bears are taking interest in what he can offer.

Pro Football Talk's Darin Gantt talked about the possibility of Hooper joining the Bears in the offseason. He pointed out that the Bears are always looking to find a terrific tight end to power the offense as Matt Nagy's tactic is built around solid tight end play.

“This offense, a lot of it goes through the tight end,” Bears coach Matt Nagy said. “We’re exploring every avenue.”

Hooper would be a valuable addition to the Bears if they manage to acquire him. His fourth season with the Falcons saw him at his most productive yet. He had the third-highest tally of receiving yards at 787 yards. He also had six receiving touchdowns to his name.

The fact that he was told to “hit the road” by the team that drafted him in spite of his solid performance left many Falcons fans with broken hearts. With no certain shape for the Falcons' future, it may be a good thing that Hooper is now looking for a new place to call home.

The Bears could be a perfect destination for Hooper if they do decide to go for him. He may become the piece that would help the Bears get back to being legitimate contenders in the NFC.
