Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy expressed some optimism earlier in the week that Mitchell Trubisky will play against the New Orleans Saints this Sunday, and the fact that the quarterback had a full week of practice only solidified that notion.

Still, Trubisky is only listed as questionable for the Bears' Week 7 tilt, and Nagy explained why:

Mitchell Trubisky suffered a dislocated left shoulder and a slight labrum tear during his team's win over the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4. He did not play in the Bears' loss to the Oakland Raiders in London in Week 5.

When he has been on the field this season, the third-year signal-caller has been underwhelming, throwing for 588 yards, three touchdowns and a couple of interceptions while completing 65.1 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 81.

Trubisky, who played his collegiate football at the University of North Carolina, was originally selected by Chicago with the second overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He made 12 starts during his rookie campaign, throwing for 2,193 yards, seven touchdowns and seven picks while completing 59.4 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 77.5.

Then, last year, the 25-year-old participated in 14 games and finished with 3,223 yards, 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 66.6 percent of his throws and recording a passer rating of 95.4, earning a trip to the Pro Bowl as an alternate. He also rushed for 421 yards and three scores.

The Bears have gotten off to a 3-2 start.
