There are teams around the NFL that continue to get involved in combatting the effects of the coronavirus. After other teams already began donating funds, the Chicago Bears are the latest ones. As a staple of the Chicago community, the Bears made a big donation to the COVID-19 response fund.

Altogether, the Bears are donating $250,000 to help those in need during these trying times. After it was made official, the president and CEO of the Bears released a statement on contributing to the cause:

“Our thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Bears President and CEO Ted Phillips said via the team's official site. “This is a challenging time for all of us, but significantly more so for those who have temporarily lost their jobs or are unable to access food and essential items. With that in mind, we are beginning our support of those in need with a $250,000 donation to the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund.”

Ever since the coronavirus pandemic began, some people have been laid off work and schools have been closed. Given that, it has been tough for people to get by and make sure they are providing for their families.

Nevertheless, some NFL teams like the Bears are committed to helping those people in need by donating. Besides teams, some players like Zach Ertz are helping local charities raise funds.

Also, on Friday, David Tepper, had his foundation pledge over $2.5 million to the coronavirus response fund. Tepper is the owner of the Carolina Panthers. With the Bears and Panthers helping the cause, hopefully there are more teams that follow suit in the near future.
