Andy Dalton is the Chicago Bears' starting quarterback for their Week 1 showdown against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football. The Bears have maintained all along that Dalton would be the starter even after trading up to get Justin Fields, despite a throng of fans calling for Fields after he showed impressive flashes in the preseason.

While Dalton is currently the guy in Chicago, NFL Network's Ian Rapaport says there's a chance Fields could see the field on Sunday night without the veteran starter suffering an injury. The Bears have reportedly installed a small package of plays for Fields, and he could play if Dalton struggles and a spark is needed:

Bears fans would surely love to see Fields get an opportunity on Sunday, though it would be quite the tease if it's for just a few plays and then Dalton goes back in. Once Fields actually goes under center, fans will want him to stay there for good.

For now, though, Bears head coach Matt Nagy is set on playing it slow with his prized rookie. Dalton would have to get injured or badly struggle for a permanent change to be made for Fields early in the season, and one bad game might not even do the trick.
