It appears as though longtime Cincinnati Bengals and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton is the new man under center in the “Windy City.” According Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Chicago Bears are signing Dalton to a one-year free agent contract worth $10 million.

With Dalton in on the Bears roster, former Chicago quarterback Mitchell Trubisky officially a free agent and superstar quarterback Russell Wilson still a member of the Seattle Seahawks, the NFC North franchise seemingly exhausted all of its options before inking the former Bengals standout to a deal on Tuesday.

As a result of the Bears failing to upgrade at the most important position in professional football, the famed William Hill Sportsbook has actually worsened the Super Bowl odds currently surrounding Chicago.

Since reportedly signing Dalton, the Bears have dropped from +4,000 to +5,000 to win Super Bowl LVI.

The 33-year-old Andy Dalton notably spent the first nine seasons of his NFL playing career as a member of the aforementioned Bengals before spending the 2020 campaign with the heralded Cowboys. Cincinnati originally selected Dalton in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of TCU.

After serving as a franchise cornerstone for the Bengals for nearly a decade, Dalton made his way to Dallas to serve as a backup behind starting quarterback Dak Prescott, who almost immediately suffered a season-ending leg injury in 2020. Thanks to the absence of Prescott, Dalton was quickly thrown into the fire for the Cowboys, though he did not find much success in addition to encountering some injury trouble of his own along the way.
