There is usually a ton of news to drop on Saturday in the NFL, mostly pertaining to injuries, but it was a contract extension that caught everyone's attention. Less than 24 hours before the Chicago Bears face the New York Giants, the Bears have finalized a three-year extension with Tarik Cohen.

It was reported on Saturday morning that Chicago was nearing a new contract with Cohen. Therefore, seeing both sides come to an agreement on Saturday night shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone.

Cohen's three-year extension is going to be worth $5.75 million per year, totaling $17.25 million. His new deal includes $12.03 million in guarantees, with $9.53 million guaranteed when he signs on the dotted line.

The Bears drafted Cohen in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of North Carolina A&T. Since he arrived in Chicago, Cohen has been a marquee member of the team's offense.

The undersized, yet elusive running back has mainly been utilized as a receiving threat in the offense. At the same time, he's contributed on special teams as a punt and kick returner too.

In his rookie season, Cohen carried the ball 87 times for 370 yards and two touchdowns. He also corralled 53 receptions for 353 yards and another touchdown.

As for the past two seasons, Cohen has combined for 150 receptions for 1,181 yards and eight touchdowns in Chicago's passing attack. Even with David Montgomery expected to get the majority of the carries in 2020, Cohen still reserves a role for the Bears.

Of course, with Cohen's deal being completed, all the attention will turn toward the Bears getting a deal in place with Pro Bowl wide receiver, Allen Robinson.
