Before Adrian Peterson re-signed with the Washington Redskins, there were several other teams that were interested in him, including the Chicago Bears.

That's the word according to CBS Sports, which offered a new report on Wednesday.

Albert Breer confirmed as much for the outlet.

“The Redskins move to take care of Adrian Peterson early—signing him to a two-year, $8 million deal on Monday—was largely prompted by other teams’ interest in him,. Which is amazing considering where he was at this time a year ago. This year, both the Bears and Jaguars were in it before Peterson decided to go back to DC.”

The good news for the Redskins, however, is that Adrian Peterson was more than happy to re-sign with them, even though other teams certainly provided some very good offers.

The Redskins had signed Peterson, 33, to a one-year deal last August to address their need at running back after rookie Derrius Guice suffered a season-ending ACL injury. Peterson immediately became the team's workhorse, carrying the ball 26 times in a season-opening win over the Arizona Cardinals and 251 times over 16 games, his heaviest workload since the 2015 season. No other Redskins player had more than 43 rushing attempts.

Peterson became the oldest player to surpass 1,000 rushing yards in a season since Redskins great John Riggins accomplished the feat in 1984.

A first-round draft pick to Minnesota in 2007, Adrian Peterson has made seven Pro Bowl appearances, been a First-Team All-Pro four times, and secured NFL MVP honors with the Vikings in 2012. He is currently eighth on the NFL's all-time rushing list with 13,318 career yards.
