The Chicago Bears are in no rush to decide between Nick Foles and Mitchell Trubisky as their starting quarterback for Week 1. While the Bears continue their offseason program, Chicago wants to wait it out before choosing Foles or Trubisky.

In a conversation with the Chicago Sun-Times, Matt Nagy exclaimed that the preseason will aid him in making a decision at quarterback:

“Preseason games, reps, playing more, creating more reps,” Nagy said, via the Chicago Sun-Times. “Having both those quarterbacks play with the same wide receivers and tight ends against the same defenses — that’s going to be important. I do believe it’ll naturally happen. I feel good about that. We have a good plan. And they understand it.”

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, the NFL plans on conducting the preseason as usual. Unlike last year, Nagy plans on deploying his starters in the preseason, giving Foles and Trubisky an even playing field to earn the starting job for the Bears.

Seeing that he has previous experience with Nagy and he's being paid more, Foles is the betting favorite to win the starting job. However, even though the Bears declined his fifth-year option, they would love for Trubisky to shine in 2020.

Of course, for a quarterback, it's vital to have continuity with the skill players that are featured in the offense. Given that, Nagy is likely going to split first-team reps with Foles and Trubisky in the preseason.

For the Bears, Foles and Trubisky are both going to have a chance to throw to Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller while working behind the starting offensive line. Therefore, neither of them have an excuse as to why they didn't win the starting job.
