Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan says that their defense has more in store for the 2018-19 season. The Bears secured their first victory of the season against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night, with Trevathan recording two of the six sacks Chicago had on the night in their 24-17 victory.

Trevathan believes the Bears will get even better as the year progresses, according to Adam Jahns of the Chicago Sun-Times.

“That’s just a glimpse, man,” said Trevathan, who led the Bears with eight tackles. “We’re just getting started. We finally put together four quarters, although we could’ve done things a lot better. I know that’s how our defense feels because we’re always trying to get better. But it was a start, and we’re feeling good. We’re going to keep it rolling for sure”

Bears head coach Matt Naggy talked about how his team needed to adopt a “finish mentality” last week when they blew a 20-point lead to the Green Bay Packers. It looks like his message got across. Prince Amukamara recorded a 49-yard interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to help his team lock the game up, while Trevathan forced a Russell Wilson fumble right after that.

The impact of Khalil Mack is definitely being felt in Chicago. The Bears have recorded a league-leading 10 sacks so far this season, and Mack and rookie Roquan Smith are still finding their legs after missing the majority of preseason work. Chicago is in a good spot moving into its Week 3 matchup against an 0-2 Arizona Cardinals team that has struggled tremendously under Sam Bradford.

If their defense continues to improve and Mitchell Trubisky gains more confidence with each game, the Bears will be in the hunt to win the NFC North this year.
