Sixth-year safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, entering his first season with the Chicago Bears, is readying for the 2019 year and reveling in his new teammates on the intimidating Chicago Bears defense.

Clinton-Dix, 26, signed a one-year deal with the Bears in the offseason as a free agent worth $3.5 million. The first-round talent joins a smothering Bears defense by adding his skills in covering the secondary.

“Being able to be around this many guys with this much talent — elite players in the front seven — it’ll make my job a lot easier,” Clinton-Dix said after Sunday’s practice.

“One of my coaches told me, ‘We’re not here to make the honor roll, we’re here to make plays,'” he said. “We’ll definitely have more chances to make plays and take chances.”

The 6-foot-1 defensive back Clinton-Dix was selected 21st overall by the intra-NFC North division rivals Green Bay Packers in the 2014 NFL Draft. He was traded to the Washington Redskins midseason last year for a fourth-round pick. The free safety recorded three interceptions, forced three fumbles, and made 93 combined tackles in 2018 playing in all 16 games for the Packers and Redskins.

Clinton-Dix also praised the elite talent he calls his teammates in four-time Pro-Bowl linebacker and former Defensive Player of the Year Khalil Mack, former first-round pick LB Roquan Smith, and 29-year-old defensive end Akiem Hicks, who's been with the Windy City franchise since 2016.
