Chicago Bears fans are going to see a familiar face at Soldier Field as Jay Cutler is expected to be in the building for the team's season opener.

The franchise's former long-time signal-caller will be attending the Bears' season opener against the Green Bay Packers, per Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune. He said that he is looking forward to watching his former team play in the season opener:

“Just kind of going to go as a fan and watch the game and enjoy it,” Cutler said. “I’ve never really watched a game from the stadium from that view. So it’s going to be fun. I’m looking forward to it.”

Cutler was the team's starter behind the offensive line for eight consecutive season openers. He has also enjoyed a successful career with the Bears, playing 11 of his 12 seasons for the team.

Since he just recently retired from the game, Cutler still knows a lot of the people playing for the Bears. He also mentioned that he feels sympathy for the Bears' frustrating playoff exit. He was teammates with former kicker Cody Parkey in Miami.

He had this to say about the Bears' cut kicker:

“I felt awful for him,” Cutler said of Parkey. “He’s a good kid and it was a tough year. It was a tough situation. And I feel like everyone thought he was going to miss it and he did. It’s just unfortunate because you know he’s doing everything possible (to make it) and it’s the last thing in the world he wants to happen. But it happened. And you’ve got to move on.”

Cutler's presence at Soldier Field will be a great boost for the team as they try to start the season on the right foot.
