Becoming a star quarterback in the NFL isn’t an easy thing to do, especially in a city that’s as demanding as Chicago. Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky has had the help of a legendary figure in the Chicago sports world. Earlier on Sunday, Jim McMahon was once again on hand to give him some pointers.

Sunday, the Bears began a celebration of their 100th year in the NFL with a daylong event (via The Chicago Tribune), that included 11 panels on Saturday to help talk about the past, present, and future of the team. One of the panels featured Trubisky and legendary Chicago Bear Jim McMahon, who gave Trubisky some tips on what it takes to succeed in a town as tough as Chicago.

Jokingly, McMahon gave Trubsiky a headband and a pair of successful, which he states were “Step 1” to being successful as a Bear. From there, though, McMahon dropped some actual advice on Trubisky, including words of wisdom on how to deal with confidence.

“This town has always been a Bear town and it’s always going to be a Bear town,” McMahon said. “I think this is a hard-working town. And these fans appreciate hard-working players. And they know who plays hard and who doesn’t. If you play hard for Chicago, they’ll love you. And if you play hard and win, they’ll love you forever.”

Trubisky added on some words of his own, discussing how playing with confidence will help in a town like Chicago. It’s clear that the two know just what it’s like trying to perform for a city as demanding as the one they play in, and that they want to succeed for their fans. Thankfully for Trubisky, the Chicago Bears seem to have a bright future ahead of them, one that, for the fans, will hopefully include a Super Bowl title.
