Let the Mitchell Trubisky era in Chicago commence.

The inevitable has happened in Windy City, as Trubisky has now been named as the starter for the Chicago Bears, who will test the mettle of the rookie quarterback on Monday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Bears head coach John Fox shared his plan of benching starter Mike Glennon in favor of the North Carolina product during an appearance on WBBM-FM, per Larry Mayer of the Bears’ official website.

“It was just a decision I thought needed to be made,” Fox said. “We had 10 giveaways in the first four weeks of the season. You can't win football games that way. Not that they were all one guy's fault, but the combination of that, we're going in a different direction.”

Fox obviously wasn’t happy with the shape of Chicago’s offense under the direction by Glennon. The Bears currently owns the worst turnover plus-minus with a -7 with Glennon being the biggest culprit, accounting for five giveaways (all interceptions).

Fox apparently had enough of Glennon last Thursday with the quarterback throwing a pair of interceptions to go with a paltry 218 passing yards on 21-of-33 completions. To his credit, Fox gave Glennon a long leash, but with the Bears now 1-3, changes must be made if the franchise doesn’t want to sink deeper in the NFC North.

Trubisky, this year’s second overall pick, has zero appearances this regular season with all his NFL experience coming in the preseason. He did flash potential in those glorified practice games, though, collecting 364 passing yards to go with three touchdowns and zero interceptions for a 106.2 passer rating.
