After Justin Fields helped the Chicago Bears destroy the Miami Dolphins in their first preseason game, the young quarterback said that the game felt slow for him. Fast forward to a week later and after receiving a massive hit during Saturday's game against the Buffalo Bills, Fields changed his tune.

Fields clarified his comments about the game being “slow,” noting that that it just felt different facing a defense with several players sitting compared to the Bears' practice where they have their top players involved. He emphasized that he didn't make the remarks to sound or look “cocky” since he knows himself that he still has a lot to prove.

“I don’t want to come off cocky or like I already made it. I’ve got a lot of work to do,” Fields explained, per Jason Lieser of Chicago Sun-Times.

As mentioned, however, the clarification came after  Justin Fields and the Bears suffered a 41-15 humbling at the hands of the Bills. More interestingly, the 22-year-old sustained a rather hard hit during the contest when linebacker Andre Smith took him down and knocked off his helmet and headband.

Fields was able to stay in the game and even gained yards in the process since Smith was called for roughing the passer. Nonetheless, it certainly didn't go unnoticed after his previous comments.

Fields is certainly bound to get some criticisms and mockery. However, it could very well be a learning moment for him. After all, he has definitely shown flashes of brilliance–enough for Bears fans to chant his name and demand for him to play.

The bears faithful are certainly hoping that Fields can confidently say that the game has slowed done for him. For now, he is still getting used to it.
