Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy recently committed to Andy Dalton as the team's first-string quarterback for Week 1. However, Justin Fields doesn't seem too fazed.

The former Ohio State standout spoke about his current role with the Bears and gave a rather mature answer, per PFT:

“Whether it’s starting or whether it’s sitting, I’m going to do whatever is gonna help us win,” Fields said.

While Dalton may be the starter for opening day, Fields will surely get his chance to prove his worth. After all, the Bears did trade up in the 2021 Draft to select the QB at 11th overall, who is seen as the future of the organization.

Bears fans were absolutely roasting the team when they signed Dalton in the offseason. He hasn't really been the most consistent player, but Nagy clearly believes he is the right man for the job. Well, at least for the time being.

Justin Fields has the perfect mindset and attitude to succeed. He's also building a solid relationship with Dalton, who has served as a mentor and offered a wealth of experience to the youngster. However, it does seem likely that Fields will take over at QB1 sooner rather than later if Dalton does struggle out of the gate.
