The Chicago Bears have gotten to a strong start to the 2018 season currently sitting atop the NFC North after winning six out of their first nine games played.

A significant chunk of that success has come from the play of their defense that has quickly become one of the top units in the league. This is something that Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins clearly recognizes even more so far after the addition of All-Pro outside linebacker Khalil Mack. (h/t Matt Eurich of 247 Sports)

“Certainly would have loved for him to stay in the AFC,” Cousins said in his press conference. “He's a great player and I want as many great players on opposing teams to be in the AFC. You understand that no matter what your schedule is there's going to be good players in every division and he's certainly one of them. We've got our hands full with him. They've got a few other really good players on defense. I have a great deal of respect, as well, for their defensive coordinator. They're statistically ranked very high and that goes beyond the addition of just one player.”

The Bears have taken it to the next level with Mack in the mix currently holding one of the league's most stout defenses. They are currently fourth in the league, giving up just 19.4 points per game along with being second against the run and 13th against the pass.

Although his level of production has dropped a bit over the last few weeks due to an ankle injury, Mack has added a huge element to that defensive front. He has proven to be a game-changing talent coming off the edge that has made him the driving force of the Bears defense.

All of this will present a major challenge for Cousins and the Vikings to overcome on the road in a pivotal game that could help decide who wins the NFC North. This sets up what could be a highly entertaining Sunday night game between these two high-powered teams with playoff aspirations.
