The Chicago Bears enjoyed a resurgence last year. Regardless, cornerback Kyle Fuller is not content to rest on the merits of that improvement just yet.

Expectations now appear to be as high as ever going into the 2019 NFL season. According to Adam Jahns of The Athletic, Fuller feels the Bears are obligated to kick things up a notch:

“To be the best that we can be,” he said.

“It’s just real right now,” Fuller said. “It’s exactly how you wanted it to be, which you would think. The cool part about it is it’s not promised. We still have to work, but we’re close.”

It is encouraging to see that Fuller is not ready to let his team settle for being above average. The Bears have made notable splashes in recent years to emerge into a potential contender. Their plan finally came to fruition in 2018 when they dominated the NFC North and made the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade. As a result, Chicago is hoping to take the next step in its evolution.

There is no question that Kyle Fuller will remain an integral part of this vaunted Bears defense. It established itself as one of the most formidable groups in the league last season. The Bears did suffer a rather notable loss after defensive coordinator Vic Fangio left to become the new head coach of the Denver Broncos. Regardless, it will fall on the remaining members of the roster and coaching staff to ensure that this unit picks up where it left off last year.
