Chicago Bears fans have thrown a lot of hate towards kicker Cody Parkey, who missed a field goal that would have sent them on in the playoffs, but Bears players have gotten behind their kicker including Kyle Long, who offered his support for him on Monday.

Parkey gets all the heat because of the missed field goal, but Long wanted to point out that there were a lot of plays missed earlier in the game that could have changed the outcome.

I just told him, ‘Dude, you had half our points today,'” Long said, via the team’s website. “I can’t even imagine what he’s going through. It’s a tough job, it’s a really tough job. I just wanted to make sure he understood that we all had his back and I think every guy in here did the same thing I did. I feel for Cody. At the end of the day, it’s a team thing. We lost as a team. We win as a team. We lose as a team. We could have done better in a lot of areas.”

Even with the teammates' support, it seems almost certain the team will at least explore the idea of bringing in a different kicker.

Parkey missed 10 kicks during the regular season and at times it looked like they were going to move on from him. He is still under contract for next season, but if the team can't trust him to make kicks, they are going to have to move on.
