Chicago Bears head coach Matt Nagy has decided to stop his club's virtual offseason workout program a week and a half early, according to NFL Update.

Nagy says that he is happy with the work his players have done and that he hopes the early break will allow them to rest their bodies and not worry about meetings.

The Bears are coming off of a 2019 campaign in which they were one of the NFL's most disappointing teams, as they won just eight games and missed the playoffs in spite of entering the year with Super Bowl aspirations.

During the prior season, Chicago rode a dominant defense to 12 wins and an NFC North division title. The Bears ultimately fell to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, but due to their defensive talent and what looked to be an improving offense, there was significant optimism surrounding the team heading into 2019.

However, due largely to poor quarterback play from Mitchell Trubisky, not to mention a defense that was not quite as stingy as 2018's, Chicago struggled to find its footing throughout the campaign.

As a result, the Bears traded for then-Jaguars veteran signal-caller and former Eagles Super Bowl hero Nick Foles to provide some competition for Trubisky.

Nagy is entering his third season as Chicago's head coach. The 2020 season will certainly be a pivotal one for Nagy, whose team took an obvious step back this past year.

Since last making it to the Super Bowl during the 2006-07 campaign, the Bears have made just a pair of playoff appearances.
