The Chicago Bears suffered a tough defeat in London when they fell to the Oakland Raiders, 24-21. To make things worse, one of their top defenders in Akiem Hicks had to walk away with an injury to his elbow.

Bears fans who watched the game were in horror when the defensive end had to leave during the first quarter to have his elbow inspected. His withdrawal from the game came only after a couple of snaps.

The unfortunate injury came after Hicks recovered from a knock on his knee during the past couple of weeks. The Bears are checking to see if they will have to put him on injury reserve.

However, head coach Matt Nagy doesn't think that he will be out of the team for long. According to Bears Wire's Alyssa Barbieri, he doesn't think Hicks' latest injury is season-ending.

However, it does take away a significant chunk of their defense as he is an important part of it. In his four years with the Bears, he's made seven pass deflections, four fumble recoveries, 24.0 sacks, and 167 tackles.

One of the probable reasons why Hicks was injured (and the Bears lost) was their travel time. Compared to the Raiders, the team decided to travel close to the day of the game. They didn't get enough time to rest their bodies, and that probably took a toll on Hicks.

The timeline for his return is still undetermined, but they will definitely miss his production when they welcome the New Orleans Saints at Soldier Field for Week 6.
