The Chicago Bears infamously traded up to select former North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the No. 2 overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. However, things have not been going as planned for Trubisky and the Bears as of late as the third-year signal caller has been struggling mightily under center.

With the Bears losing to the Philadelphia Eagles by the score of 22-14 on Sunday afternoon to drop to a less than stellar 3-5 on the season, Chicago head coach Matt Nagy was promptly asked if he ever considered benching Trubisky in favor of veteran backup quarterback Chase Daniel against the Eagles. Nagy insisted that he never considered benching Trubisky despite the veteran signal caller struggling yet again.

“No, I didn’t. I think for all of us, we knew that we could collectively be better,” Nagy said after his team's latest loss, via NBC Sports' Pro Football Talk.

The Bears only managed nine net yards of offense during the first half of the Week 9 matchup on the road in Philadelphia with the struggling NFC North franchise finishing the forgettable outing with 164 yards. Trubisky was 10-of-21 for 125 yards when all was said and done while he has yet to surpass the 300-yard passing mark in any game in which he has appeared in this season. Granted that Trubisky has been dealing with some injury trouble along the way, sepcficially a significant injury to his non-throwing shoulder, Sunday afternoon's loss to the Eagles marked the fifth time that he failed to record a touchdown this season.

It is also worth noting that despite not benching his starter under center just yet, the aforementioned Nagy did suggest that Trubisky watch the television broadcast of the team's matchup from last week “in order to watch his body language and facial expressions.”
