The most frustrating young quarterback in the NFL at the moment is the Chicago Bears' Mitchell Trubisky. It's understandable that some are counting him out given his string of poor performances. However, Michael Vick is calling for calmer heads and more consideration for Trubisky's career.

He knows that the 25-year-old is not showing his best football at the moment. However, he is adamant in his belief that moving him to the bench will do more harm than good for his career.

Bears Wire's Alyssa Barbieri explains the former Falcons and Eagles QB's point of view.

“I think the worst thing for Mitch right now is to be benched,” Vick said Monday on ESPN’s Speak For Yourself. “He’s in his third year, and he’s an investment. For some quarterbacks it takes time. But I’ll say this, it’s Matt Nagy’s decision, and Matt Nagy is responsible for Mitch Trubisky. He’s responsible for making sure that this guy can go out and play better than what he played (vs. Eagles).”

Vick understands his predicament because of how his early years in the NFL looked. He had a breakout second season with the Atlanta Falcons where he finished with 2936 passing yards and 16 touchdowns. His third year saw him play only five games for 585 yards but immediately bounced back with solid three seasons before his two-year suspension from the league for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

Vick suggested that the Bears adjust their offense to suit Trubisky better because nothing disappoints him more than benching a guy who's in a rut.

“I don’t want to see him benched because I think that’s the worse thing you can do for a guy that’s in a funk,” Vick continued. “He’s playing with no confidence. How do you give him confidence? You give him things he likes. Make him feel good about the game plan he’s doing.”

Of course, the final decision will be with Matt Nagy. Trubisky and Vick hope that he doesn't pull the plug on him, though.
