The Chicago Bears chose to acquire Nick Foles in a trade, but that doesn't mean he'll be handed the starting job in 2020. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, Mitch Trubisky will get the first shot at winning the starting quarterback job.

Following the conclusion of the 2019 season, the Bears made it clear that Trubisky would be the starter in 2020. However, the trade for Foles makes it far from a guarantee that Chicago stays true to their word.

In his first three seasons in the NFL, Trubisky has been inconsistent for the Bears. Just this past season, Trubisku regressed, as he finished the season with 3,138 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. Due to his struggles, fans in Chicago have been calling for a chance at the quarterback position.

Seeing that the Bears made a move to acquire Foles from the Jacksonville Jaguars, they share a similar opinion as fans. Even though Foles isn't a long-term solution, he can at least light a fire under Trubisky. Or if Trubisky fails to earn the starting job, then Foles can give Chicago a contingency plan in 2020.

As a first-round pick in 2017, Trubisky is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Unless he shows a massive change in his game in 2020, it's tough to believe that Chicago would re-sign him next offseason.

Aside from the quarterback position, the Bears have a roster that can do some damage in the NFC. While some fans assume Foles will win the job this offseason, Trubisky is going to take the first-team snaps in training camp.
