Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky managed to edge out quarterback Nick Foles for the starting job for the Week 1 opener against the Detroit Lions. It now remains to be seen whether he will be able to keep it this way for the rest of the 2020 NFL season or not.

According to JJ Stankevitz of NBC Sports, Trubisky is not worried about Foles hovering behind for an opportunity to start.

There had been plenty of speculation regarding the position battle when Chicago traded for Foles. His familiarity with head coach Matt Nagy from their time with the Kansas City Chiefs provided some intrigue regarding their plans under center.

Although Trubisky is doing what he can to show his confidence, it is safe to say that he is well aware that his position is hardly set in stone. He may have managed to beat Foles out with his play in training camp, however, he willed to show that it will translate to the regular season. Otherwise, Nagy will be forced to experiment under center throughout the course of the 2020 campaign.

The Bears had high hopes that Trubisky would be able to make the jump in Year 3 following a promising sophomore season. Unfortunately, he struggled to find his footing after throwing for a mere 3,138 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions as the team fell vastly short of expectations.

Foles is also coming off a rocky year following a brief stint with the Jacksonville Jaguars. His tenure was mired by a broken clavicle and he was never able to get back on track during the season. He will now have to wait for Trubisky to slip up if he hopes to get another opportunity to start.
