Don’t be surprised if you see rookie quarterback Mitchell Trubisky of the Chicago Bears make his first start of his NFL career against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 5.

Benjamin Allbright of Cover32 has gotten reports from unnamed sources that Trubisky is being seriously considered as the Bears’ starter next week at home against a visiting Minnesota team.

The Bears know that Mike Glennon isn’t the long-term answer at the quarterback position. It’s a topic that isn’t talked about directly by Chicago’s coaching staff and management but Glennon’s bad play under center this season is enough to clearly send the message across.

Glennon had a better outing in Week 4’s 35-14 road loss to the Green Bay Packers, passing for 218 yards and an interception but the two interceptions he threw explain a lot why the Bears aren’t going to reach new heights with Glennon as the starter. On the season, Glennon has five picks against four passing touchdowns.

The Bears are now 1-3, and changes are seemingly needed if they still are aiming for the playoffs. Giving the keys of the offense to Trubisky is high on their list of changes they want to see from the team, which dropped to 1-3 after the loss to the Packers.

While Trubisky has yet to see action in the regular season, he was outstanding back in the preseason in which he collected 364 passing yards to go with three touchdowns and zero interceptions for a 106.2 passer rating.
