Mitchell Trubisky and the Chicago Bears got off to a hot start to the 2018 NFL season, but have come back down to reality a bit over the last couple of weeks. After beginning the year 3-1, the Bears are now 0-2 since their bye week. In Week 7, the Bears ended up falling to the New England Patriots by a final score of 38-31.

While it was a good game for the Bears to be able to compete that well with the Patriots, Trubisky isn't happy with a “close” game. He knows that close doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.

In a press conference shared by the Chicago Tribune, Trubisky talked about the game and how the Bears didn't do quite enough to get the win.

“Close doesn’t cut it. To go down to the wire with a team like that, you can kind of see where we’re at. But like I’ve said before, the standard is higher (now). So we’ve got to keep getting better.”

Those are some very mature words for a second-year NFL quarterback. Chicago is finally getting a taste of what it's like to have a legitimate franchise quarterback in the making for the first time in a long time.

During the Week 7 loss to the Patriots, Mitchell Trubisky completed 26 of his 50 pass attempts for 333 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. He also rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown.

Chicago is still a team to watch in the NFC as a potential sleeper. Trubisky and company are not going to be easy to beat for any team and could easily make a run at the NFC North division.

If they can clean up their offense just a bit more, the Bears are going to take the next step. Chicago turned the football over a couple times against the Patriots, which was a part of what ended up beating them. Take those turnovers away and they may very well have won the game.

Expect to see the Bears come back strong in Week 8 as they take on the New York Jets at Soldier Field.
