Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky struggled with a shoulder injury late last season, but going into the month of May, the 25-year-old said he is 100 percent healthy.

In a Twitter interview with his former backup Chase Daniel, the Bears signal-caller gave an update on his recovery from the offseason surgery he received to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

“It’s great, it’s great,” Trubisky said when asked by Daniel about his shoulder. ‘‘I’m back to 100 percent. I haven’t been able to see a doctor to get cleared officially, but I pretty much cleared myself. It feels better and stronger than it did before [I] even hurt it.’’

Daniel spent the last two seasons as Trubisky's backup in Chicago and even started a game for the Bears in 2019 when Trubisky was out with injury. The veteran quarterback signed with the Detroit Lions on a three-year, $13.05 million deal and should serve as Matt Stafford's backup.

As for Trubisky, the former No. 2 overall pick was one of the league's biggest disappointments last season. After making the Pro Bowl and completing 66.6 percent of his passes for 27 total touchdowns and 12 touchdowns in year number two, Trubisky's production with the Bears saw a dip in 2019.

In 15 games, the North Carolina product completed 63.2 percent of his passes and threw just 17 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Chicago, as a whole, also saw a drop off last season as they went 8-8 after going 12-4 the year prior.

This offseason, the Bears signed former Philadelphia Eagles and Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles to replace Daniels and also possibly compete with Mitchell Trubisky for the starting job.
